BBC Birmingham
BBC Birmingham is home to television productions from contemporary drama (Dalziel & Pascoe, Doctors and The Afternoon Plays) to factual programmes like Gardeners World and Countryfile; through to documentaries and the award winning regional news and current affairs output Midlands Today and Inside Out.
BBC Birmingham is also recognised for producing highly acclaimed drama and documentary programmes for radio; and the world's longest running radio soap, 'The Archers' is made here too.
In addition, a third of BBC Radio 2's music programmes come from Birmingham with Janice Long and Stuart Maconie just two of the presenters based here; together with Richard Bacon for Radio 5Live.
BBC WM, together with much of the Asian Network's output broadcasts from BBC Birmingham and the UK's first daily Asian radio drama, Silver Street is a BBC Birmingham production.
At BBC Birmingham's new home at The Mailbox, is a Public Space area that offers you the chance to drop in and find out more about our programmes. Tours available.
For the first time, you'll be able to see what goes on in Ambridge as 'The Archers' record in their specially made studio; watch 'BBC WM' and 'Asian Network' presenters live on air; take a peek into the television production gallery; and take a trip down memory lane with our Time Tunnel, which celebrates broadcasting in the Midlands. There's hands on displays and exhibits and a CBBC/CBeebies area. There is also a BBC Shop and a café within the Public Space area.
The BBC Shop stocks a variety of BBC DVDs, videos, audio and books, and a café. Throughout the year the space is used to host a range of special events including BBC's Children In Need, programme Q and A's, booksignings, City wide events and smaller events with educational and community groups.
